On January 7, 2020, the world lost Neil Peart of Rush, one of the greatest drummers of all time. I was an adult student of music, fulfilling my boyhood dream to play the drums, and like so many before me, Neil Peart was a huge inspiration.
I decided to honor his memory and scratch-build a 1:8th scale model of his DW drum kit as it appeared during the Snakes & Arrows tour in 2008. I researched DW drums process of constructing their kits, poured over countless images of Neil's kit and went so far as to reach out to Neil's drum tech, Loren Wheaton, who provided some technical information on the drum riser ... how it worked, its dimensions and the layout of Neil's kit.
